Running Multiple Lucid Trading Accounts on NinjaTrader 8

The Q-My-Trade setup guide · Last updated: 26 October 2026

Quick answer: Lucid Trading allows trade copiers and lists NinjaTrader as a supported platform on its CQG (Tradovate) connection. You can run up to 10 Lucid accounts per household, of which up to 5 can be funded. With Q-My-Trade, run your evaluations as one master in COPY ALL and your funded accounts as a second master, keep every Lucid account trading the same direction, and set each account’s MAX LOSS below Lucid’s limits, because caps stop new trades but don’t close open ones.

If you trade more than one Lucid Trading account, entering the same trade by hand in every account gets old fast, and one missed click leaves your accounts out of step. This guide covers what Lucid’s rules say about copiers, how many accounts you can run, how Lucid’s hedging rule affects copying, and how to set up Q-My-Trade for Lucid evaluations and funded accounts.

Every Lucid rule below comes from Lucid Trading’s help center, checked on 26 October 2026. Lucid can change its rules at any time, so check the linked pages before you set up your accounts.

Does Lucid Trading allow trade copiers?

Yes. Lucid’s trading activities page says: “Automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted.” It adds two conditions: all automated activity must comply with Lucid’s rules, and traders are fully responsible for any software errors, malfunctions or unintended outcomes.

In other words, Lucid treats a copied trade exactly like a trade you placed yourself. The copier is allowed; breaking a rule through the copier is still a breach. That matters most for the hedging rule, covered below.

Can you use NinjaTrader 8 with Lucid Trading?

Yes. Lucid’s supported platforms page lists NinjaTrader under its CQG supported platforms, alongside Tradovate and TradingView, and says all listed platforms work with all Lucid account types.

NinjaTrader is not on Lucid’s list of Rithmic platforms, so connect NinjaTrader to Lucid through the CQG/Tradovate route. For the exact login steps, follow the onboarding email Lucid sends with your account details.

Once your Lucid accounts appear in NinjaTrader’s Control Center, Q-My-Trade can see them. If NinjaTrader 8 can see an account, Q-My-Trade can copy to it, including accounts from other prop firms connected at the same time.

How many Lucid Trading accounts can you run at once?

Lucid’s account limits page sets these limits per household or family, not per person:

  • Up to 10 active evaluation accounts
  • Up to 5 active funded accounts (different funded account types count together)
  • A maximum of 10 accounts in total across evaluations and funded accounts, so you can keep 5 evaluations in reserve while you hold 5 funded accounts

One more rule affects multi-account traders. According to Lucid’s live account page, all simulated prop accounts are closed when a trader is moved to live trading or opts out of live via cash-out, and while one household member is trading live, others may not trade simulated accounts. Plan your evaluations around that.

What are Lucid’s drawdown and position limits?

Lucid’s main plans (LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDaily) come in four sizes. The maximum loss limit (Lucid’s name for the drawdown) and the maximum position size are the same across these plans:

Account sizeMax loss limitMax positionDrawdown locks at
$25K$1,0002 minis / 20 micros$25,100
$50K$2,0004 minis / 40 micros$50,100
$100K$3,0006 minis / 60 micros$100,100
$150K$4,50010 minis / 100 micros$150,100

The max loss limit trails your balance until the account passes its initial trail balance ($26,100 / $52,100 / $103,100 / $154,600), then locks at the starting balance plus $100 (LucidFlex drawdown). Figures checked 26 October 2026; LucidDirect accounts have different figures, so check Lucid’s LucidDirect page if you use them.

The differences between plans that matter most for copying:

  • Drawdown type: LucidFlex and LucidPro use an end-of-day drawdown. LucidDaily evaluations can be end-of-day or intraday (chosen at checkout), and LucidDaily funded accounts always use an intraday drawdown.
  • Daily loss limit: optional on Flex, Pro and Daily. You choose it at checkout and can’t change it afterwards. Lucid’s daily loss limits are soft: hitting one pauses trading until the next session, while hitting the max loss limit is a hard breach (daily loss limit).
  • Consistency: LucidPro funded payouts use a 40% consistency rule (LucidPro consistency). LucidFlex funded accounts have no consistency percentage, but each payout needs at least 5 days that meet the minimum daily profit (LucidFlex payouts). To see where your own days stand, use our free consistency rule calculator.
  • End of day: positions must be closed by 4:45 PM EST, Monday to Friday, and are closed automatically at that time (allowed trading times).

How does Lucid’s hedging rule affect trade copying?

This is the rule to get right. Lucid’s hedging page says you cannot go long and short the same contract in the same or separate accounts, and you cannot go long and short correlated contracts in separate accounts. Its example: you cannot go long ES in one account and short NQ in a separate account. Correlated means the same group, such as equity indexes, metals or energies. Holding mini and micro versions of the same market (for example NQ and MNQ) is allowed within one account, but not as opposite positions across separate accounts.

Flagged accounts are reset to the previous day’s balance without a drawdown reset, and repeated offenses breach every account involved. On live accounts, Lucid says hedging is prohibited by both Lucid and the CME, results in a permanent ban, and that this includes any copytrader issues that may arise.

What this means for your setup:

  • Copying in the same direction is not hedging. One signal copied long to every Lucid account is fine.
  • Use one master signal per market group across your Lucid accounts. If two strategies trade NQ and ES in opposite directions into different Lucid accounts, that’s a cross-account hedge.
  • Leave Q-My-Trade’s Hedge Protection on. It’s on by default and refuses any copy that would put your accounts on opposite sides of the same correlated group (equity index, gold or crude), for example long NQ on one account and short ES on another, even when the trades come from different masters. It’s a safeguard, not a guarantee: it doesn’t act on your signal accounts or trades you place by hand, it doesn’t cover markets outside those groups (such as silver or natural gas), and staying within Lucid’s rules is still up to you.
⚠ Q-My-Trade caps don’t close open trades. When an account reaches its MAX LOSS cap, Q-My-Trade stops sending it new trades, but any position already open keeps running until your strategy or you close it. Set your caps with that in mind. See our FAQs for how caps work.

How should you set up Lucid evaluations in Q-My-Trade?

If you’re running several Lucid evaluations at once, COPY ALL is the natural fit: every eligible account takes every signal, and any account that hits its cap is skipped until the next session (with Daily Reset on) or until you clear it.

  1. Create a Master Group watching your signal account.
  2. Add a sub-group set to COPY ALL and add your Lucid evaluation accounts to it.
  3. Set a MAX LOSS cap for each account (see the formula below).
  4. Optionally set a balance target at the evaluation’s profit target, for example $53,000 on a 50K account with a $3,000 target, so that once the account’s balance, including open profit, reaches it, Q-My-Trade stops copying new trades to that account. A trade already open keeps running and can still finish below the target, so check the balance before you request the pass.
  5. Keep LucidDaily accounts out of this group if you trade around news (see below).

Setting MAX LOSS: because a cap doesn’t close an open position, leave room for one more losing trade after the cap triggers.

  • With a daily loss limit: MAX LOSS = Lucid’s daily loss limit minus your largest single-trade stop. For example, a $1,200 limit and a $200 stop gives a $1,000 cap.
  • Without one: MAX LOSS = the max loss limit minus your largest stop minus a buffer. For example, on a 50K account: $2,000 − $200 − $300 = $1,500. On an intraday drawdown, use a bigger buffer, because the limit moves with your open profit.

How should you set up Lucid funded accounts?

Funded accounts need a different setup from evaluations, and the right mode depends on which Lucid plan you have.

  • LucidPro funded (40% consistency): a ROTATE group sends each signal to the next account in turn, so one big day doesn’t land on every account at once. Add a MAX WIN cap per account to help keep any single day well below the consistency limit.
  • LucidFlex funded (5 qualifying days per payout): rotation spreads winning days across accounts, so each account may take longer to reach 5 qualifying days. If you’d rather your Flex accounts reach payout eligibility together, use COPY ALL with a conservative MAX LOSS instead.
  • Mixed plans: give each plan its own master, so every plan takes every signal with its own mode and caps. Sub-groups under one master take turns instead (the first trade goes to Sub-Group 1, the next to Sub-Group 2), which suits alternating signals between two sets of accounts.

Whatever the mode, set a MAX LOSS per account using the formula above, and keep the funded group trading the same direction as your evaluations so no Lucid account ends up on the other side.

What about LucidDaily accounts and news?

On LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDirect, Lucid allows entering or exiting positions around news. On LucidDaily, trading U.S. high-impact “red folder” news is a hard breach (trading activities).

If you hold LucidDaily accounts, give them their own master in Q-My-Trade, so you can SKIP ALL on that group around red-folder releases without affecting your other accounts. Skipping doesn’t close open positions, so close any open LucidDaily trade before the release. For this week’s release dates, see the BLS release schedule and the Federal Reserve’s FOMC calendar.

Can you run Lucid accounts alongside other prop firms?

Yes. Q-My-Trade works with every account NinjaTrader 8 can see, so you can run Lucid accounts next to accounts from other prop firms, over Tradovate and Rithmic connections at the same time. Each firm can have its own master, with its own signal, mode and caps. If you also trade Apex, our Apex setup guide covers that firm’s rules.

Each firm’s rules apply to its own accounts, so check every firm’s limits before you add its accounts to a group.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lucid Trading allow trade copiers?

Yes. Lucid’s help center says automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted, as long as all automated activity complies with Lucid’s rules. Traders are responsible for any software errors or unintended outcomes.

Can I use NinjaTrader with Lucid Trading?

Yes. Lucid lists NinjaTrader as a supported platform on its CQG (Tradovate) connection, and says its listed platforms work with all Lucid account types. NinjaTrader is not on Lucid’s Rithmic platform list.

How many Lucid Trading accounts can I have?

Up to 10 active evaluation accounts and up to 5 active funded accounts per household or family, with a maximum of 10 accounts in total.

Is hedging allowed at Lucid Trading?

No. You can’t hold opposite positions in the same contract, or in correlated contracts such as ES and NQ, across separate Lucid accounts. Copying the same direction to every account is not hedging. On live accounts, Lucid says hedging, including copier issues, results in a permanent ban.

Can I trade the news on Lucid with a trade copier?

On LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDirect, Lucid allows trading around news. On LucidDaily, trading U.S. high-impact red-folder news is a hard breach, so keep LucidDaily accounts in a separate Q-My-Trade group you can skip at news times.

Does Lucid Trading have a daily loss limit?

It’s optional on LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDaily. You choose it at checkout and it can’t be changed afterwards. Lucid’s daily loss limits are soft: they pause trading until the next session. The max loss limit is the hard breach.

What happens to my other Lucid accounts when I go live?

Lucid says all simulated prop accounts are closed when a trader is moved to live trading or opts out of live via cash-out, and that while one household member trades live, others may not trade simulated accounts.

Does a Q-My-Trade loss cap close my open trades?

No. When an account reaches its MAX LOSS cap, Q-My-Trade stops sending it new trades, but open positions keep running until your strategy or you close them. Set the cap below Lucid’s limit with room for one more losing trade.
